Emily Ellis is the Assistant Director of the Greenwood Public Library.  With over 16 years of experience, she specializes in collection development, programming and events, and data management and analysis.  Emily loves serving her community and enjoys finding creative ways to foster a love of reading in individuals of all ages.  She hosts a weekly pop culture podcast and loves playing with her nephews and niece and walking with her dog Dolly Parton.

Julia Reynolds is the Community Relations Specialist at Greenwood Public Library.  She spent 14 years as a high school librarian before joining GPL; in her position, she works with the Greenwood Library Foundation in all fundraising events and fosters relationships between the library and Johnson County business, non-profit, and government leaders.  Julia lives in Greenwood with her husband, Luke, and their two sons, ages 10 and 12. She enjoys camping with her family, CrossFit workouts, and a strong cup of coffee.

Today’s Everyday Business Leader is David Maurer

Dave brings a wealth of soft skills and a dedication to relationship building as cornerstones to his success in fundraising and consulting. A former colleague describes him as “an accomplished fundraiser and ‘friend’ raiser, approaching his work with both passion and purpose. Dave delights in building relationships and engaging the broader community in the mission and vision of a charity. His authenticity and professionalism always undergird his outreach.”

Dave has a long history of impact in both the not-for-profit and for-profit worlds, valuing all elements of industry ethics and best practices and holding his commitment to being trustworthy, diligent, and sincere at the core of all he does. In addition, he has a strong passion and desire to engage in the community, to play a role that will enable human flourishing to take place in our communities.

 

Dave graduated from Franklin College with a degree in business and went on to launch a successful career in the health and life insurance industry. He later worked as a fundraising professional for Franklin College and has served on a variety of not-for-profit boards, consulted for many organizations in Central Indiana, and has been appointed to several political positions here in Johnson County.

Dave enjoys travel, photography, and aviation (possessing both VFR and IFR ratings) and lives in Bargersville with his wife, Jennifer.

Today’s Everyday Business Leader is Kathy Buck with Book Pillows of Hope a 501C3 Organization that brings hope in difficult times to children experiencing grief and loss. “We go wherever there’s a need. Wherever we feel we can comfort a child, we’ll be there,” says Kathy Buck of Indianapolis who founded a non-profit organization called Book Pillows of Hope. What do these book pillows look like? “We make 14-inch pillows. We cover them in fabric – there’s a pocket on the front and a handle for the child to carry the pillow with – and then a book is inserted in the pockets, so it’s educational and comforting. Kelsie is a long-time Johnson County resident and currently lives in Greenwood. She works for Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County as the Resource Development Coordinator, is the ColorCommentator for the Indianapolis Alleycats professional Ultimate team, and is a licensed Realtor. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Grace College, as well as experience in marketing, partnerships, and sales. Kelsie loves sports and has spent many years both playing and coaching soccer and ultimate frisbee. Kelsie played ultimate frisbee professionally for Indy Red in 2021 and is enjoys her media role with the Alleycats. Kelsie is passionate about building relationships and giving back to the community and loves that her position at Habitat allows her to do just that.
